On Tuesday’s episode of The Fosters, Aaron — a transgender statute student played by real trans actor Elliot Fletcher( above) — and Callie( Maia Mitchell) are officially a couple!
This marks the first time a lead female character of a teen drama has coupled up with person transgender.
Maia told TVGuide.com that this relationship is “breaking down barriers” regarding trans representation in the media. She said 😛 TAGEND
“[ The episode] touches on a lot of things for trans children, especially the relationship between Callie and Aaron. It’s really important that we do determine the heroine girl of a show in a relationship with a trans boy … I think it’s breaking down hurdles. I don’t believe I’ve seen that, especially not on a indicate with our demographic. It’s a really important issue and it’s going to speak to a lot of people, particularly the trans community. I’m really proud of it.”
