An Egyptian woman believed to be “the worlds” heaviest has left an Indian hospital more than 660 pounds lighter after undergoing weight-loss surgery. Eman Ahmed Abd El Aty, who was removed from her home in Alexandria with the help of a crane, underwent the bariatric procedure in early March.
Abd El Aty, 36, will now undergo further treatment in Abu Dhabi, Reuters reported. She has not strolled in 25 times and at her heaviest, reportedly weighed about 1,100 pounds. Her physician, Muffazal Lakdawala, wrote in a blog post that a series of operations brought her weight to around 440 pounds, but she faces future procedures.
IS THE ‘8-HOUR DIET’ THE KEY TO WEIGHT LOSS?
Her bone structure is poor, Lakdawala wrote, according to Reuters. So several years of disuse have compounded the problem. She will need multiple surgeries to straighten her hips and knees.
However, Abd El Atys sister and her medical squad have butted brains over her treatment lately. A report by Mid-Day noted Saifee Hospital called authorities on Selim, claiming she had tried to give her sister sea which could jeopardize her health. She likewise accused the hospital of exaggerating Abd El Atys weight loss and claimed she was suffering seizures and was not stable enough to be moved.
Abd El Atys household has not been able to be reached for comment by Reuters after news of her transfer violate. Before the surgery, Abd El Aty had not left her home in 25 times.
